Format guide
Choose a format around your real life
There is no universally better format. The useful choice is the one that fits the practice, your access needs, your privacy, and how you prefer to participate.
Online may suit you when
Online sessions can reduce travel and widen the range of people you can speak with, but the setting around you still matters.
- You have a private, quiet place and a stable connection.
- Travel, mobility, distance, or scheduling makes in-person access difficult.
- The practitioner can explain how the practice changes online.
- You know what to do if the call disconnects or you need support afterward.
In person may suit you when
A shared physical setting can matter for practices involving instruments, movement, group participation, or a particular environment.
- You want to understand the venue and who else may be present.
- You have checked accessibility, sensory, and transport needs.
- Touch or close physical participation is explained and consented to in advance.
- You know how to leave or pause if you become uncomfortable.
Check the practice, not just the format
Ask how the practitioner adapts their approach to the chosen format. Neither online nor in-person delivery turns a complementary spiritual practice into medical care or guarantees a particular outcome.
